Toronto, ON — In a significant leap towards sustainability, SYNLawn Canada proudly announces the successful completion of its synthetic turf installation at West 5, Ontario’s first-ever net-zero community. Situated in London, Ontario, this ambitious project spreads over 70 acres and is now fully operational, featuring 2,000 residential units and 400,000 square feet of commercial/retail space.
Building a Net-Zero Community with Synthetic Turf
The SYNLawn Toronto team, headed by John Larsen, was instrumental in the transformation of the West 5 amphitheater. The team skillfully installed 1,200 square feet of SYNSport, the perfect multi-purpose synthetic turf for large indoor or outdoor applications.
In line with the project’s sustainable vision, SYNSport boasts several eco-friendly attributes. The turf features SYNLawn’s exclusive plant-based EnviroLoc+™ backing system, replacing up to 60% of petroleum-based polyol with renewable soybeans. The absence of black rubber crumb and options for safe, clean, high-performance infill further accentuates its environmental compatibility.
Optimized for safety, SYNSport meets safety standards such as ASTM F1292, ASTM F1551, and ASTM F1951, making it a reliable choice for community spaces. Its ability to drain over 300 inches per hour, combined with UV-stabilized yarns resisting sun fading, ensures lasting performance and aesthetic appeal.
SYNLawn Canada’s commitment to precision and craftsmanship was on full display throughout the installation process. The net-zero community project posed numerous challenges with its tight edges, corners, curves, and small spaces. Nevertheless, the crew’s meticulous attention to detail ensured a flawless result, demonstrating our ability to meet complex project requirements precisely.
