Thanks to SYNLawn Okanagan, playing outside just got a whole lot better for the children attending the YMCA’s Little Scholars Day Care and Preschool. A two phase project providing synthetic grass to both of the playgrounds at the daycare located at Okanagan College has just been completed.
SYNLawn Okanagan, the primary contributor, also championed the project in the community and secured additional support and volunteer hours from Kelowna Sand & Gravel, Eljay Irrigation, BFI Canada – Kelowna, WINN Rentals and Redline Bobcat.
“A growing number of parks and preschools are choosing synthetic grass for their playgrounds to allow more opportunities for kids to be active. This project is a perfect way for us to give back to our community. It is great seeing big smiles as the kids run and play outside,” says Rene Bourgault, SYNLawn Okanagan.
“The new synthetic surface means that we can be outside with the kids more, there will be less wear and tear from many little feet and kids will be safe from falls. The new playgrounds will provide preschoolers the opportunity to get outside and play regardless of the weather,” says Colleen Keeler, Childcare Director, YMCA Little Scholars.
