Before installing SYNLawn yourself, you will need the proper tools for the job. Please see the list of tools below.

  • Seaming Cloth (1 roll = 15 feet)
  • Seaming Glue (1 qt. = 15 feet)
  • Landscape Stakes (25 per package)
  • Turf Rake (for bristle fibers)
  • Hand Tamper (for outdoors applications)
  • Sprinkler Caps (if needed)
  • Utility Knife
  • Hammer
  • Yard Rake
  • Shovel
  • Wheelbarrow
  • Tape Measure
  • Marking Paint
  • Garden Hose
  • Wide Shop Broom

Prepare the base

The majority of outdoors-based applications require an aggregate base to allow proper water drainage. Simply clear the area where you want your SYNLawn to be installed, remembering to remove any superfluous grass and roots in the process. Once this has been done, add a 4-6 inch layer of crushed aggregate until you get your preferred shape and contour. Work the aggregate with a rake or compress by hand until the surface looks compressed and level.

Trim to size

With the base prepared, place your SYNLawn artificial lawn and trim to shape. If you require more than one roll of turf, make sure the “grain” of the grass fibers point in the same direction.

Glue together seams

To combine separate rolls of synthetic grass together, align two pieces edge-to-edge. Fold back each edges to lay SYNLawn seaming cloth down the length of the joint.

Secure in place

Secure the seaming cloth in place. Apply seaming adhesive to the cloth, distributing a consistent thickness. After a few minutes, gradually ease the two edges back together, checking the fit every step of the way. To secure the turf, use landscape anchor pins or five- or six-inch galvanized nails around the perimeter to keep your SYNLawn flat and anchored to your base.

Groom your grass

Finally, use a landscape rake or broom to brush, revive, and invigorate the grass fibers, then methodically rinse the area with a hose. Brushing and rinsing on a regular basis keeps your SYNLawn Canada product looking great and feeling soft for years to come!
